Although our society’s ideas about gender are changing, INTJ women and girls may feel pressure to conform to the image of the “typical” female—chatty, nurturing, and emotionally expressive. Other people, meaning well, may tell INTJ females to talk or smile more, to loosen up and just have fun, or they may question the INTJs’ lack of emotional exuberance. Many INTJ females get through the day by faking small talk and emotion, only to end up feeling drained and inauthentic.
